Well I dont know if most of you will know what Damper is, so first off a little explanation.
Damper is a mostly like bread, but it tastes better, is great to eat hot, and you usually eat it in very thick slices, with jam (umm jelly for those in the US I think
There is no fixed recipie for Damper, many people make it in different ways here is a basic overview:
A Few Cups Self Raising Flour (2-3)
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
2 - 3 Teaspoons of Powder Milk (NOT made up, still powder)
Some Water
Combine the Flour Salt and Powder Milk in a bowl, mix it all up!
Throw some extra flour all over the surface you are using (dont forget this step), add in the water and mix it all up! add extra flour or water as needed.
Once you have a big sticky mess, dump it out on the flour you put down before ;D
Kneed the dough make sure to continue adding extra flour to the surface or your damper will stick!
Remember to stop occasionally to clean off your hands
Once your dough is all kneeded and doughy, seperate it into as many as you like, depending on the size of your oven you can make 1 huge one, a few big ones, or lots and lots of little ones ;D
Shape them as kinda oblong
Glaze your Dampers with (real this time) Milk
Bake at 180 degree's CELCIUS (you are going to have to convert this to Farenheit) untill golden brown (no set time either, this depends on your oven and the size of the Damper), TADA ;D ;D Your Damper is all done! now ENJOY
A small tip on finding out if your Damper is cooked, it is much like a cake! Stick a knife or one of those skinny cake tester things into it, if it comes out clean your Damper is ready.
Experiment untill you find a way you really like it! Personally I prefer mine a little undercooked, and hot ;D
